Bletchley Bletchley was a working railway town before Milton Keynes existed, and its station is still one of the busiest in the area. It includes Fenny Stratford and Water Eaton, both absorbed into the town over time, along with Bletchley Park, now a museum but once the site of the Second World War codebreaking effort.
Wolverton Wolverton grew up around the London and North Western Railway works, and much of its older housing was built for the people who worked there. New Bradwell, just to the north, was built for the same reason. Old Wolverton, closer to the Grand Union Canal and the Iron Trunk Aqueduct, keeps more of the original village feel.
Stony Stratford Stony Stratford sits on Watling Street, the old Roman road, and its high street is lined with Georgian coaching inns from its time as a stop on the London to Chester route.
Newport Pagnell Newport Pagnell is an older market town a few miles north of central Milton Keynes, with its own high street and history, even though it's now part of the same built up area.
